1. What are pre-filters?

Scora is able to recognize incoming spam at the server level as they come in and can reject the m before they arrive in your inbox to save you the trouble of having to delete them. Messages sent from known spam sources are rejected (based on various subscribed block lists). Messages sent from return addresses with non-existent domains will also be rejected. The default block lists that are used are usually very accurate and are based on Internet-wide feedback from email administrators (among other methods). This makes it extremely rare for legitimate email to be sent from a source listed on a block list.
NOTE: This category was initially labeled as 'Block'.

2. What does the number on the pre-filtered line mean?

This number represents how many messages were caught and rejected by Scora's pre-filters. Typically a sender who happens to be blocked by the pre-filters will receive an error message bounced back to them indicating why their message was not delivered.

3. Can I view or recover any rejected messages?

Messages rejected by the pre-filters are not recoverable as they get rejected prior to quarantine. By default, the pre-filters are set at a conservative level such that it has a very low chance of rejecting legitimate emails but still blocks spam from clogging your inbox. The default block lists that are used are usually very accurate and are based on Internet-wide feedback from email administrators (among other methods). This makes it extremely rare for legitimate email to be sent from a source listed on a block list.

4. Can I adjust the pre-filters or disable them?

Pre-filter settings are globally applied to all addresses in a domain (including exempt users). Customized pre-filter settings for individual accounts is currently not supported. For more information on the current pre-filter settings, please contact your domain's Scora administrator.
