About this Estimator
This estimator is intended to demonstrate
potential costs of spam with or without the Scora service for
your organization using certain key assumptions, most of which
are noted below.
The estimator measures labor-related costs only at this time.
This is usually more than enough to demonstrate the potential
savings and
recapture of productivity for a Scora-protected domain. There
are additional infrastructural savings for organizations as well
(bandwidth,
storage, CPU time, data preservation) which we hope to include
as the estimator evolves.
Scora has a wide range of effectiveness, since it can be customized.
These estimates are based on the system default settings.
You will note that our estmates here are conservative. Since no
spam or virus filter can realistically or ethically claim 100%
accuracy, we make
sure to include potential error (both machine and human) in these
estimations. We avoid hype, over promising or setting unrealistic
expectations. This attitiude and modesty is part of Tiki Technologies'
committment to ethics and responsible delivery of our products.
Many ROI calculators are a "black box" that give you
stunning numbers without ever telling you what assumptions are
made to get them. Tiki
Technologies wants you to know these assumptions so that you can
judge for yourself how much confidence to put in these numbers.
Any ROI calculator is just a rough guess. The real test is to
give Scora a try. We usually have a special offer that makes it
easy to do this without
much hassle or expense. Please give us a call.
Scora's default settings will effectively remove about 90 to 95%
of spam (the estimator uses the more modest 90% number) and 99.99%
of viruses.
(effectively, it will filter any email virus, except ones for
which a rule is not yet written. Virus filters are updated every
24 hours.)
We further estimate (using industry information
and observation) that:
- reviewing an unfiltered email box
requires about 4 seconds
per email on average.
- reviewing a Scora quarantine report
and filtered email
requires about 1.5 seconds per email on average.
- Scora is effective in stopping 99.9%
of email borne viruses.
There are viruses that use other
methods to attack computers such as infected floppy disks.
Time and money spent resolving virus infections through
other means are not used by this estimator.
- use of an effective virus filtering
system will result in about
one quarter as much viral infestation than is likely to
occur in an unfiltered email environment.
- use of an effective spam filtering
system will result in about
half as much human error losing or overlooking emails as is
likely to occur in an unfiltered email environment.
